What scalp micropigmentation is
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP), sometimes called a hair tattoo, is a non-surgical scalp pigmentation treatment. Using professional scalp pigments and ultra-fine needles, we create natural-looking follicle impressions that blend with your existing hair and reduce the visual contrast between hair and scalp.
Every treatment is tailored to your existing hair pattern, density and scalp tone, for a result that blends in rather than looking drawn on.
Treatment areas
| Area | Who it suits |
|---|---|
| Crown | Thinning or visible scalp at the top and back of the head. Follicle impressions are placed between existing hairs. |
| Hairline | A receding, thinning or uneven hairline. Adds definition for a fuller-looking, balanced line that suits your face. |
| Diffuse thinning and part line | Overall thinning or a widening part, common in women. Softer density that blends with longer hair. |
| Beard and sideburns | Sparse patches, an undefined beard line, or a gap between sideburns and facial hair. |
For men
Many men come to us with crown thinning, a receding hairline, or a shaved head where the scalp shows through. SMP can recreate the look of a close buzz cut, or add density behind longer hair. We design the hairline around your facial proportions and preferred style before any pigment goes in.
For women
For women, scalp micropigmentation is usually about the part line and the crown: making the scalp less visible under longer hair so styling feels easy again. It can also help after a hair transplant where density is lower than hoped.
How treatment works
SMP is built gradually over multiple sessions rather than finished in one. Most treatments need 2 to 3 sessions: the first lays the base, and later sessions build density and refine colour. Straight after treatment the pigment looks more defined; as the scalp heals, it softens and settles.
The person treating you has more than 13 years in the beauty and aesthetics industry, and plans each treatment around your hair pattern, scalp condition and the result you want.
Scalp micropigmentation or hairline embroidery?
SMP is generally used across larger areas of the scalp to create the look of greater density. Hairline embroidery focuses on shaping and softening the front hairline and temples. Some clients benefit from both. We will recommend what fits your concern at the consultation.
